LOTIONS AND BODY MILKS

Have you ever used a lotion frequently during the day, only to find that your skin actually feel increasingly dryer between applications? Your skin may not be the best candidate for commercial lotions containing mineral oil, synthetic scents and a variety of chemical ingredients in the formula.

Sensitive skins in particular require a light natural lotion composed primarily of vegetable or nut oils, with a large complement of humectants and moisture factors. Dry skin types need a creamy lotion rich in cold-pressed oils with specialty oils and butters to nourish skin with essential nutrients. Many people also prefer a lotion to an oil for bodycare. Vitamins and essential oils add anti-oxidant pproperties, therapeutic values and natural fragrance to lotion formulas.

Lotions for everyday use can be customized with a variety of essential oils to suit the needs of different skin types. Refer below for recommendations of essential oils to blend into the unfragranced lotion base outlined later in the posting.

Try your creativity making other types of lotions. such as body milks and perfumes voiles. Body milks are lighter, pourable lations with a high water content. Perfumed voiles (or veils') are silky lotions with a higher concentration of natural fragrance, designed to be applied to the hands, arms and neck as a first 'layer' before applying perfume. The possibilities are endless - let your imagination be your guide!
