- Devote 10 minutes every day to caring for your nails; as they start to look prettier you will be more inclined to want to stop biting.
- Try using an anti-biting lotion. Once you have stopped for a couple of weeks, your finger nails will provide the incentive to keep up the good work.
- Having short nails does not mean you cannot wear nail varnish; even short nails look better with an application of clear or pale polish.
- Consider wearing false nails or properly applied nail enhancement for a while so your nails have a chance to grow underneath - even the most determined nail biters have trouble gnawing their way through them! A few weeks might be all you need to break the biting habit. However, be aware that nails will be paper thin immediately after artificial nails are removed.
- Carry an emery board with you at all times so you can instantly smooth away straggly edges that tempt you to bite.

TIPS FOR NAIL BITERS
Chronic nail biting deforms the nail plate and damages the tissue surrounding it, resulting in unattractive nails, as well as the introduction of bacteria that may cause illness and minor - but permanent - nail deformities. Regular manicures may help you to become more conscientious of your nails and encourage you to stop biting.
