ANTI-AGEING SECRETS OF THE RICH AND FAMOUS

Intense pulsed light (IPL)
Also known as photorejuvenations, this non-invasive procedure treats pigmentation marks, redness, including broken veins; and irregular skin texture. Unlike more aggressive laser resurfacing, you can go back to the office with only a slight redness to give away where you have spent your lunch hour. It can't be done over a tan or self-tanning products as there is a risk of burning, and you need to avoid sunbathing and wear a sunblock during your course of treatments. A cooling gel is applied before the treatment head is moved slowly over your face. While not exactly painful, each light pulse feels as if your skin has been gently snapped with a rubber band. And the bigger the target, the sharper the snap! Afterwards, skin is glowing and brown spots are darker but 'fall off' as you cleanse your face a few days later. Although you can expect to see improvements after one, the recommended course is between four and six.

Skin supplements
These are food supplements tablets that are taken daily to work from the inside out to improve your skin's thickness, elasticity and moisture level. The tablets contain skin-friendly ingredients such as marine extracts, active proteins, silica and vitamin C, which all promote the natural rejuvenation of your skin. Results can be seen after three months, not just on your face but all over your body, and you can expect signs of ageing such fine lines, age spots and dilated capillaries to be visibly reduced. Your skin will look brighter and smoother too. These results don't come cheap, with a month's supply depending on the brand you choose but there is clinical evidence that these work - and of course, they are far cheaper than surgery.

Eyelash extensions
Unlike traditional false lashes, these are single lashes that are painstakingly attached to your real ones rather than your skin (just as hair extensions are attached to the hair, not the scalp). This means they look completely natural and last 6-12 weeks, shedding as your natural eyelashes do. Each treatment attaches from 40 lashes per eye, taking roughly one minute per lash. It's just about the most flattering beauty treatment you can have, and as lashes are curled your can say goodbye to mascara, not to mention any other eye make-up.
Prices are not cheap and ask about a complimentary top-up a week later in case any of the 'anchor' lashes have shed. Give your new lashes the longest life possible by not letting any water, skincare or make-up near them for 24 hours, and from then on cleansing around your eyes very carefully. And sleep on your back, if at all possible!
